In many countries, the quality of life in large cities is becoming worse. What are the causes for this problem? What measures do you think should be taken to tackle this problem?

Despite the rapid progress of society, there is a widespread recognition that（有一个普遍共识） the quality of life in large cities is getting from bad to worse(恶化). The factors which are responsible for this would be discussed and proactive approaches（积极主动的方法） to the problem will be suggested in the following essay.

Among all problems that plague（困扰） city dwellers, traffic congestion may be most frequently discussed. The fast growing number of cars clearly exceeds the proceeding（超越进程） of the construction of road facilities in many cities. Every day, people have to waste a large amount of time on the road, getting exhausted and frustrated. High cost of living is another main source of lower quality of life for residents in cities. It is common to hear complaints about ever-rising house price. To pay for their houses, ordinary people are compelled to（不得不=have no alternative but to） do extra work and pursue higher income. Accordingly(因此), many of them suffer from health problems.

要根据问题提措施，交通就是要完善基础设施建设，比如地铁，住房问题的解决要靠建立卫星城市了。

To tackle these problems, city planners should take active measures. More public fund needs to be allocated to improve the environment people live in. for example, if the government can invest in building sufficient subway, people would have more alternative for commute（通勤）, and then traffic volume（车流量） can be reduced significantly. Also, if some people move out of town and relocated in the suburb, the house shortage in cities can be relieved, but the precondition（前提条件） is that the infrastructure（基础设施） should be constructed in those satellite cities（卫星城市）.

这段也可以不写，如果字数够了的话，那样最好把问题分成两段写，这样大作文四段式比较合理。

In conclusion, the causes of this phenomenon lie in a traffic jam and high living cost, but effective methods, such as the improvement of public transport and the construction of satellite cities, could be adopted.
